We are excited to announce that Chris Web of Cross Join consulting has agreed to speak at Glasgow SQL Server User Group. Chris is an independent consultant specialising in Analysis Services, MDX, Power Pivot, DAX, Power Query and Power BI in general. He has been blogging about Microsoft BI for over 10 years. He also speaks at a number of conferences including SQLBits, the PASS Summit, the PASS BA Conference, SQL Saturdays and user groups.

Chris will be giving a session titled – Introduction to dataflows

  • What dataflows are and when you might want to use them
  • The advantages and disadvantages of using them over Power BI
    Desktop’s data loading features
  • Configuring incremental refresh
  • Additional features available in Power BI Premium
  • Integration with Azure Data Lake Store, the Common Data Model and
    other Microsoft services

Stewart is the Lead Engineer for BI at Arnold Clark where he has worked for 3 years working with entire Data Warehouse and Power BI development project. During his career Stewart has worked in BI and SQL Server for 6 years after gravitating towards the field via roles in finance and data analysis which involved using a lot of Excel and SQL. He specialises in the Microsoft BI Stack, Data Modelling, and Requirements Analysis.
